Past, Present & Future of the Gypsy Travellers: 24th May 2007

South Lanarkshire Council’s Community Learning Service supported the preparation, publication and launch of ‘Past, Present & Future of the Gypsy Travellers’ an illustrated anthology of the lives and reminiscences of Gypsy Travellers in South Lanarkshire. The launch, held at Low Parks Museum, Hamilton, was well supported by Gypsy Travellers, Jess Smith, Alex and Freda Kennedy, Alex Sutherland, Mary Hendry and many Gypsy Traveller young people and their families. All joined in a workshop discussions about Gypsy Traveller histories and life styles. The images show some of the non-Travellers whose interest and support for the venture are reflected in the impressive posters and artifacts that were on display. Congratulations are also extended to ‘Learning Together’ and Learning Connections Communities Scotland who also provided support for the project.
